“I am so thankful for the time I spent with you last year, Dr. Cam, and the excellent guidance you gave me. I don’t think last night would have happened without you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.” — Emily S.
“I’ve just met Dr. Cam for a 20-minute appointment and felt like I’ve learned more there than in the past 4 years of trying to improve my relationship with my teenage daughter. Amazing.” — Linda B.
“Thank you for your wonderful encouragement and ideas. Having a strong and loving relationship with my kids is priceless and precious and I greatly, greatly appreciate your work.” — Mary A.
My philosophy
Adolescence is a whirlwind of change—which is why what worked yesterday can fall flat today. Communication gets messy. Tempers flare. Everyone feels like they’s speaking a different language.
This stage isn’t won through tighter rules, louder lectures, or “bigger consequences.”
It’s built through relationship, connection, and steady leadership—because connection is what gives you influence when things get hard.
When you learn to look underneath the behavior (instead of just trying to stop it), you start responding differently. And that’s when the cycle changes:
less power struggle, more cooperation
less walking on eggshells, more trust
less reacting, more confidence
I like to think of teens as butterflies—mid-metamorphosis. They’re not “turning into problems.” They’re becoming an adult. With the right guidance and support, they come out of this stage stronger, more capable, and more themselves.
And you?
You come out of it as the kind of parent who knows how to lead—without losing the relationship.
